白寿彝与《中国通史》的编纂:述论与评价

摘　　要：白寿彝先生的《中国通史》经历了20年的探索与编纂,经历了中型通史编纂、小型通史编纂、大型通史编纂三个阶段。其中小型《中国通史》获得广泛影响,其间探索20多年,这20多年是不同寻常的20多年,从拨乱反正到改革开放。在编纂《中国通史》的过程中体现出了有操守的中国马克思主义史学家为之奋斗的崇高目标。大型《中国通史》的编纂虽然历经波折,但是经过白寿彝先生这位总主编的运筹帷幄,最终得以完成。体现了白寿彝先生对名山事业的追求,对用历史教育人民的希冀,对发展中国历史学的坚韧与勇气。对白寿彝编纂中国通史所留下的史学遗产,我们应该有客观公正的评价。Bai Shouyi spent more than two decades in compiling the General History of China and wrote the book in medium,small and large scale successively,in which the medium-sized General History of China was the most influential. The compilation of the General History of China reflects the personal integrity of the Chinese Marxist historians. Bai Shouyi finished compiling the large scale General History of China with his firm academic pursuit and his hope of educating the people with history. It can be said that the large-scale General History of China is a dream of the 20 th century generation. It displays the style of a generation of scholars led by Bai Shouyi. They pushes the study of Chinese general history to a peak in the 20 th century. For this precious historical legacy,we should give objective and fair evaluation.
