后殖民语境下的空间与身体:阿迪契小说《紫木槿》的主题论析

摘　　要：阿迪契在其长篇处女作《紫木槿》中描写了三个重要空间意象,即恩努古、阿巴和恩苏卡。借用福柯的规训权力理论和霍米·巴巴的“第三空间”分析这三个空间里人物的身体体验。从隐喻的层面上看,恩努古是一个殖民主义规训空间,这一空间意象让读者看到,在尼日利亚摆脱英国殖民统治30余年之后的20世纪90年代,殖民主义思想依然以一种隐蔽的方式操控着尼日利亚民众的思想;阿巴是一个前殖民传统空间,由于殖民文化的侵蚀和传统男权思想的羁绊,年轻一代在这一传统空间里也难以健康成长;恩苏卡则是一个包容、杂糅的后殖民空间,是霍米·巴巴文化理论意义上的“第三空间”,糅合了以恩努古空间为代表的殖民主义基督教文化以及以阿巴为代表的传统宗教文化,形成了包容、杂糅的伊博天主教文化,能为主人公的成长提供营养和支持,可以视为阿迪契心中较为理想的生存空间。In her debut novel Purple Hibiscus,Adichie depicts three major space images,ie.,Enugu,Abba and Nsukka.This paper is a study of the fictional characters’bodily experiences in those three spaces with reference to Foucault’s idea of disciplinary power and Homi Bhabha’s concept of“Third Space”.Metaphorically speaking,Enugu is represented as a disciplinary space which suggests in the 1990s,three decades after Nigeria’s independence of British colonial control,colonialism was still manipulating Nigerians in an implicit way.Abba,represented as a pre-colonial traditional space under the erosion of colonialism and the rule of patriarchal values,fails to offer sufficient nourishment and support for the healthy growth of the younger generation.Nsukka is represented as“a Third Space”in a Bhabhan sense which tolerates and combines the colonialist Christian culture prevalent in Enugu and the conventional religious culture prevalent in Abba.The hybrid Christian culture there nourishes and supports the growth of the protagonist,hence a relatively ideal living space in Adichie’s mind.
