摘　　要：为了促进中国地图学史的研究以及促进中国地图学史研究的国际化,成一农研究员与《地图学史》项目的负责人马修·H.埃德尼教授进行了一次对话。首先,埃德尼教授对《地图学史》前3册的学术价值进行了评价,认为在当时的学术背景下,这套丛书通过强调古地图的研究应当注重地图绘制的文化、社会等背景,拓展了地图学史研究的领域。然后,成一农研究员简要介绍了中国地图学史近20年来的发展以及研究方向的转向。作为回应,埃德尼教授认为,中国地图学史需要在中国文化的背景下进行研究,同时强调,中国学者今后只有通过将地图学史的研究融入人文研究,融入其对人类意义的研究,且关注对更为宏观问题的思考,才能真正走向国际化。In order to promote the study of Chinese cartographic history and its internalization,Professor Cheng Yinong had an interview with Professor Matthew H.Edney.Professor Edney started with an appraisal of the academic value of the first three volume of the History of Cartography,believing that the series contributed to expanding the field of study of cartographic history by laying emphasis on the cultural and social background of map-making.Professor Cheng then briefed Professor Edney on the development and shifts of focuses of Chinese cartographic studies over the last two decades.In reply Professor Edney pointed out that the study of Chinese cartographic history should be grounded in Chinese culture and that Chinese scholars can make their research international only by incorporating their cartographic studies with studies of humanities and bringing our their meaning to the rest of the world.
