维多利亚惊悚小说“女疯子”的文化阐释--以《奥德利夫人的秘密》为中心

摘　　要："女疯子"、疯人院是维多利亚惊悚小说的重要人物和叙事场景,"女疯子"叙事是惊悚小说制造感官刺激、营造惊悚氛围的常见叙事手段,其中,"女疯子"是病理学和精神学上的现象,在惊悚小说中却是一种具有时代意义的文化现象,具有鲜明的象征意义。本文以《奥德利夫人的秘密》为中心分析维多利亚惊悚小说"女疯子"的界定及其文化实质并得出结论,"女疯子"实为不合男权社会规约的"堕落女性",疯人院即演变为男权统治的重镇,有悖于男权社会规约的女性常被界定为"疯子"而禁闭在疯人院,表现了维多利亚男权主宰社会为维护现有的社会秩序和道德标准对女性的压制,是现实性别政治的文学表征。Thrillers prevailed as a new genre of English literature in the mid-nineteenth century since the publication of Collins’ The Woman in White. "Female Lunatic" narration is the characteristic of thrillers. Based on an integration of both interior and exterior researches,this paper,focusing on Lady Audley’s Secret,explores and illustrates the hidden cultural connotation of this narrative strategy,which leads to a conclusion that mad narration functions as a way of creating a sensational atmosphere;meanwhile the definition of "female lunatic" is the result of male dominance over women as well as sex politics in the Victorian Age.
