摘 要:EMBROIDERY is one of China’s traditional handicrafts with a long history.Roughly since the Han Dynasty(206 B.C.-A.D.220),girls began to learn the skill of embroidery from a young age.Almost every article in the home made of cloth would feature embroidery, from small things like perfume satchels, handkerchiefs, and shoe insoles,to large items like partition screens, wall hangings, bedding, clothing, and accessories for adults and children. Each seemingly ordinary article had an ornate embroidered design transforming them into beautiful decorations. As a result,a woman’s embroidery skill became a yardstick for measuring her ingenuity.
