Taking the Taiyue Mountain National Nature Reserve in Shanxi province as the study area, the spatial heterogeneity of soil nutrients in the southern end of Taiyue Mountain was analyzed by the semi-variance function, a key function in geostatistical analysis. The canonical correspondence analysis(CCA) was used to study the correlation between vegetation communities and soil nutrients. The results showed that soil pH, total nitrogen(TN), total phosphorus(TP), organic matter(O.M), available phosphorus(AP), available potassium(AK), and Alkaline nitrogen(AN) were all moderate. The degree of variation, in which, in addition to available potassium(AK), the other six soil factors showed strong spatial autocorrelation in the region. The results of CCA analysis showed that there was a significant correlation between vegetation community and soil factors. The spatial heterogeneity of soil factors may affect the vegetation species composition and community construction of the community. It reflects the niche differentiation of soil resources by different species in the ecosystem.
