空间理论视角下《德伯家的苔丝》中的女性成长悲剧分析

摘　　要：《德伯家的苔丝》是英国作家托马斯·哈代最优秀的代表作品,讲述了哈代时期英国乡村底层的女性在困苦的生活中奋力挣扎的生存状态。长期以来主人公的悲惨命运一直是众多文学爱好者研究的课题之一,文章从空间理论的角度,通过分析苔丝在几个重要地域空间布蕾谷、纯瑞脊、芙仑谷、棱窟槐和沙埠的生活经历,剖析这些地域的社会空间特点,探索苔丝渴望独立的女性意识在成长过程中受到过的各种磨难和约束,从而分析作品的悲剧根源。无论是在哪一个生存空间里,苔丝都属于空间的最底层,她纯洁的天性受到严重的束缚和压制,为了生存,她苦苦挣扎,却无法实现其作为女性的独立成长,最终无法逃脱悲惨的命运。British writer Thomas Hardy’s best representative work Tess of the D’Urbervilles narrates the living conditions of women who desperately struggle for survival at the bottom of the English countryside at Victorian age.The tragic fate of the protagonist has long been one of the topics studied by many literary fans.From the perspective of space theory,this paper analyzes Tess’life experiences in several important regional spaces,such as Blakemore,Trantridge,Froom,Flintcomb-Ash and Sandbourne,explores the social space characteristics of these regions,and the various hardships and constraints she has suffered from in her growing feminie process to summarize the cause of her tragedy.Whichever living space,Tess belongs to the lowest space.Her pure nature is severely restrained and suppressed.She struggles in vain to survive and failures to achieve the growth of her own space and ultimately escape her tragic fate.
