摘　　要：林德尔·戈登的群体传记《局外人:改变世界的五位女作家》是对玛丽·雪莱、艾米莉·勃朗特、乔治·爱略特、奥利弗·施赖纳和弗吉尼亚·伍尔夫五位英国女性作家的记述和评价。此书将历史真实与艺术真实相结合,揭示了体现在五位作家的生活和作品中的鲜明的"局外人"特征--"女性的真实本质",强调她们为诠释、捍卫和传承女性本质做出的不懈努力以及对后世的影响。作品独到的视角和缜密的分析,有助于读者更深入地了解五位女作家,对文学传记的创新也具有参考价值。Lyndall Gordon’s Outsiders: Five Women Writers Who Changed the World is a collective biography of five British women writers: Mary Shelly, Emily Bront?, George Eliot, Olive Schreiner and Virginia Woolf. The book is a combination of historical and artistic truth, which reveals the distinct "outsider" idiosyncrasy shared by the five writers, namely "the true nature of woman" reflected both in their lives and works. It pays attention to the writers’ influence on the world as well as their efforts made to interpret, defend and deliver the nature of woman. Characterised by the unique perspective and exquisite analysis, the book provides a reference for the innovation of literary biography, in addition to guiding readers to get a better understanding of the five writers.
