摘 要:霍布豪斯对自由的理解承袭密尔和格林等前辈思想家的转向,同时结合了19—20世纪之交英国社会改革的实践,推动了古典自由主义向新自由主义的转型过渡,深化和发展了自由概念的内涵。他对自由的阐释具有三个主要特点,其一是将自由概念具体化为一组基于和谐原则的社会权利体系;其二是将自由定位于精神发展成长的目标、社会和谐的基础;其三是从社会权利的意义对自由的"积极"与"消极"进行了综合,从实践与理论的双重层面推进了对自由概念的理解。Hobhouse's understanding of freedom inherited from the former thinkers such as Mill and Green,and it combined with the practice of British social reform in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.He thus promoted the transition from Classical Liberalism to New Liberalism,deepened and developed the connota-tion of freedom.His interpretation of freedom has three main characteristics.First,he made the concept of freedom embodied in a system of social rights based on the principle of harmony.The second was to make freedom the goal of spiritual development and the foundation of social harmony.The third was to integrate the“positive”and“negative”side of freedom in the sense of social rights,and to promote the understand-ing of the concept from the perspectives of both practice and theory.
