摘　　要：威廉·配第(William Petty, 1623-1687)是17世纪伟大的经济学家和统计学家,是英国皇家学会的创始人之一。他提出了"政治算术"这一概念,使用"数、重量和测量"的方法对国家的人口与经济数据进行了计算与分析。他的统计学研究方法为统计学发展奠定了基础。William Petty(1623-1687) was a great 17 th-century economist, statistician and one of the founders of the Royal Society. He put forward the concept of "political arithmetic" and used the method of "number, weight and measurement" to calculate and analyze the population and economic data of a country. His statistical methods laid the foundation for the development of statistics.
