Pipelines laying in the loess area pass through a large number of loess scarps and terraces, resulting in a large number of soil erosion. In order to ensure the stability of loess scarps and terraces,it is necessary to select appropriate forms of hydraulic protection. Rafter weir is a type of hydraulic protection measurement which is made of plain soil, and is made by dynamic compaction according to the height and slope of the site sill and ridge. It is widely used in soil and water conservation projects on the loess plateau because of its advantages of durability, ecological protection and low engineering cost. Using the method of rafter weir for reference, the rafter weir is utilized to restore the ground when the pipeline passes through the loess areas and terraced fields. According to the design method of gravity retaining wall, the stability of rafter weir is calculated. Through theoretical calculation and field test results, the appropriate structure is selected. Rafter weir is used for the restoration when pipeline the pipeline passes through loess scarps and terraces in combination with the anti-seepage cut-off wall to ensure the stability of the slope and the pipe trench. The field application effect is good.
