摘　　要：Hills Like White Elephants is a short story written by Hemingway in 1927. The story of Hills Like White Elephants takesplace in an unknown small railway station in northern Spain. A young couple are waiting for the express to Barcelona. The storystarts the dialogue of the novel, which is simple and easy to understand, but vividly describes the rich inner world of the protagonists.The novel with only a few thousand words vividly shows Hemingway's unique narrative style. Hemingway uses irony, symbolism,semantics level and syntax level to depict the psychological state of characters. The Foregrounding theory of stylistics is usedto analyze the theme text and the style of Hemingway from two aspects—Deviation and Over-Regularity.
