摘　　要：She still lights up the roomat virtually every publicappearance with a radiantsmile and sparkling eyes. ThePhilippines’ Gloria MacapagalArroyo, known as the “Iron Ladyof Asia,” was once listed amongthe “Most Powerful Women inthe World.”Daughter of former PhilippinePresident Diosdado Macapagaland a professor of economics,Gloria Macapagal Arroyo lecturedat multiple universities beforelaunching a political careerin 1992 with a run for senator.In 1998 she was elected VicePresident while holding aconcurrent cabinet position asSecretary of Social Welfare andDevelopment. From 2001 to2010, she served as Presidentof the Philippines. In July 2018,Arroyo returned to the politicallimelight as the new Speaker ofthe House of Representatives.Over the years, she has continuedtireless efforts to advance China-Philippines relations.
