英国城市大学办学理念的变迁

摘　　要：英国城市大学成立的最初目的是为了满足工业社会时期城市发展需要。然而,受英国历史传统与拨款机制影响,这些城市大学在发展过程中一度模仿牛津大学、剑桥大学的模式,以追求学术声誉作为其主要办学理念。随着时代的变迁以及社会的深层需要,英国城市大学逐渐转变办学理念,从追求学术声誉转为强调社会参与。把社会参与融入教学与研究之中,从事基于需求的、具有变革意义的教学与科研活动,并致力于解决社会(包含社区、乃至地区)面临的现实问题和重大挑战。The original purpose of the civic university was to meet the needs of urban development in the industrial society.However,influenced by the British historical tradition and the review mechanism,these civic universities imitated the model of Oxbridge university in the development process,with the pursuit of academic reputation as their main educational philosophy.Nowadays,in view of the prominent strategic position of the university and the social deep needs,civic university has gradually changed its educational philosophy from pursuing academic reputation to emphasizing social engagement.Under this ideal,civic university is increasingly integrating teaching and research,engaging in transformative activities to solve problems and challenges faced by society.
