摘  要:Presentation作为一种教学手段在大学英语课堂中得到广泛的使用。但在大多数情况下,教师更多地关注学生在Presentation中展示出来的语音、语调、遣词造句等语言能力,却忽视了它是通过象征的力量来影响和说服受众的一种"修辞行为",其真正的价值在于培养学生的沟通能力而不是展示语言水平。因此,应该从西方修辞学的角度来探究如何让课堂Presentation取得最大效果。演讲者应始终考虑受众的需求,并根据亚里士多德的"三诉诸"理论,诉诸受众的情感来唤起共鸣,投射适当的人格形象来增加威信等,这些都能增强Presentation的有效性。As a teaching method,presentation is widely used in College English class. However,in most cases,teachers tend to emphasize students’ language abilities,such as voice,intonation,words and sentences,but ignore that it is,in the true sense,a"rhetorical behavior"aiming to influence and persuade the audience through symbolic power. Its real value lies in cultivating students’ communication ability rather than displaying their language proficiency. Therefore,we should explore how to maximize the effect of presentation from the perspective of rhetoric. The presenter should always be conscious of audience’s need throughout the whole process,and as is suggested by Aristotle,appeal to the audience’s "pathos" to arouse resonance,and project appropriate"ethos"to increase prestige,etc.,which can increase the effectiveness of class presentation.
