Depression and osteoporosis are both the most common diseases that seriously affect the physical and mental health of the elderly. As the population ages, the incidence of both is increasing year by year. The decline of organs, the deterioration of function and the changes in the internal environment together cause a disorder of bone metabolism, which ultimately leads to the loss of bone mass.Depression is a mental illness. With the deepening of research on the disease,it has been found that depression has a very close relationship with osteoporosis. This paper summarizes and analyzes the recent research progress in depression and osteoporosis in China and abroad in recent years, and reviews the correlation between depression and senile osteoporosis. Therefore, targeted early intervention of the two diseases could have a positive significance for reducing the occurrence of adverse events, improving the clinical symptoms of elderly patients, and improving the quality of life in old age.
