Objective To investigate the situation of fracture patients during the outbreak of coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19), and improve the diagnosis and treatment process. Methods This study retrospectively analyzed the data of 96 hospitalized fracture patients during the outbreak of COVID-19 from January 20, 2020 to March 1, 2020, including 87 surgical patients. Statistics and analysis of patient data were recorded, including age, gender, injury site, injury location, admission time, operation time and discharge time. Summarizing the procedures of diagnosis and treatment of fracture patients. Results Among the hospitalized patients, 37(38.5%) cases were over 70 years old, and among them, 28(75.7%) cases suffered hip fractures. The average age of the patients was(64.48±18.71) years old, and the average length of stay from injury to hospitalization was(2.98±5.83) d, from admission to surgery was(4.01±3.61) d,and the average length of stay was(7.98±4.07) d. Age [(77.52±14.03) years vs.(56.35±16.92) years, P<0.001)]and length of stay [(10.86±3.49) d vs.(7.02±3.75) d, P<0.001] were higher in the hip fracture group than in the other fracture group. No patients died and complications were happened. Process and notes of treatment were made. Conclusion Hip fracture in the elderly is the most important fracture type during the outbreak of COVID-19. Falls in the elderly should be prevented at home. Safe and effective surgery can be ensured by complete process.
