At the beginning of the twentieth century, supported by Japan’s national strategy,Japanese nationals began to emigrate to Brazil. They worked hard in their new home, cultivating the land, establishing social organizations and building a social identity, and eventually formed a Japanese immigrant society in Brazil.Under the dual influence of nationalism from both Brazil and Japan,Japanese immigrants in Brazil regarded the place of their residence as a“colony”or“extension of Japanese territory”.The special structure of Japanese immigrant society and the“borderer consciousness”built on the“Japanization Thought”ultimately led to violent terrorist attacks by the“Shindo Renmei”in Japanese immigrant society in Brazil after the defeat of Japan in WWII.
