After the occurrence of ischemic stroke, angiogenesis can improve the blood flow in isch emic penumbra, increase the oxygen supply in the damaged area, reduce the infarct area, and promote the recovery of nerve function. However, the mechanism of angiogenesis after cerebral ischemia is very complex, which has been a hot topic in recent studies on cerebral ischemia. Currently, angiogenesis after cerebral ischemia is not only an important indicator for clinical evaluation of stroke prognosis, but also a drug target for the treatment of ischemic stroke. As a traditional Chinese medicine, acupuncture and moxibustion has a significant effect on the treatment of ischemic stroke, and has been widely recognized by scholars at home and abroad. This article reviews the regulatory mechanism of cerebral ischemia and the theoretical basis for acupuncture and moxibustion in the treatment of cerebral apoplexy.
