摘　　要：[目的/意义]通过对贝茨的信息定义进行哲学反思,不仅可以展现信息科学家对信息本质理解的哲学立场,也有助于信息哲学家定位前沿信息科学研究中的概念误区与哲学困境,并据此促进信息哲学的发展。[方法/过程]依据内涵分析和综合类比其他相关的信息哲学观点,贝茨信息定义的优劣得以显现。[结果/结论]经过分析与论证,贝茨信息定义所暴露的缺陷可以为信息哲学提供研究的课题,同时其展现的哲学立场也可为信息哲学的发展提供灵感。[Purpose/Significance]Through philosophical reflection on Bates'definition of information,we are able to understand the potential philosophical view of information scientists on the essence of information.And it also helps information philosophers to locate the conceptual misunderstanding and philosophical predicament in the frontier of information sciences,which may stimulate the development of philosophy of information.[Method/Process]On the basis of connotation analysis and analogy with relevant viewpoints of other philosophies of information,the potential advantages and disadvantages of Bates'definition of information are discussed.[Result/Conclusion]It is concluded that the drawbacks of Bates'definition of information can provide research topics for philosophy of information,and his philosophical standpoint can provide inspiration for the development on philosophy of information.
