摘 要:美国学者奥尔布赖特在《缪斯之艺:泛美学研究》一书中对跨艺术诗学进行了深远和宏大的哲学性思考,探究了艺术的核心问题,包括艺术的本质、艺术的功能、艺术的起源与结局,以及艺术品的意义。他在论著中既阐释了文学、绘画、音乐等各门艺术的独特性,也论证了艺术之间的共通性和相互转换的可能。欧美跨艺术学界研究诗画关系或诗乐关系的不乏其人,像作者这样能在文学、绘画、音乐间穿梭自如,批评视野如此宽广的并不多见。著作第二部分稍显薄弱,但整体而言,该论著既有哲学高度的宏大思考,又有具体的逻辑论证和细致的文本解读,还配有多幅相关视觉艺术图片,读来引人入胜,富有启发,对比较文学、艺术史和跨艺术诗学研究有重要的参考价值。In Panaesthetics:On the Unity and Diversity of the Arts,Albright develops a profound philosophical framework and explores some fundamental issues:the essence of art,the function of art,the beginning and ending of art,and the meaning of artwork.Albright makes fascinating elaboration on the unity and diversity of literature,painting and music.It is quite common to find works on poetry and painting,or literature and music in European and American interart studies nowadays,but rare to see a polymath like Albright who shuttles at ease amid different arts with such depth,insight and concentration.Though Part Two is inappropriately brief,on the whole,the book is elegant and enjoyable,with a broad philosophical framework,the convincing argumentation,the delicate textual analysis,and a number of related visual illustrations;hence,it is an illuminating reference for scholars of comparative literature,art history and interart poetics.
