Objective:To explore the relationships among rumination, perceived social support and anxiety in parents of children with autism spectrum disorder. Methods:We used a questionnaire survey to test 464 autistic children’s parents,to explore the influence mechanism of rumination on anxiety in parents of children with autism spectrum disorder, and test the mediating effect of perceived social support. Results:The findings indicated the following:Parents of autistic children with full-time employment were significantly lower in rumination(F=4.98,P<0.01)and anxiety(F=7.27,P<0.001)than parents who left their jobs, and were higher in perceived social support(F=4.78,P<0.01).There was a significantly positive correlation between ruminant thinking and anxiety(r=0.74,P<0.01),and there were significantly negative correlations between perceived social support and ruminant thinking and anxiety(r=-0.41,-0.48;P<0.05);Perceived social support played a part role in mediating rumination and anxiety among parents of autistic children. Conclusion:This study confirms a close relationship between rumination and anxiety levels in parents of children with autism spectrum disorder, perceived social support plays an important role.
