摘  要:19世纪来华的英国医学传教士合信是第一位以医者身份公开批评中医的传教士,是对中国医学刻意弱化和污名化的专业推手。合信的言论彰显了西医学的普世性与权威性,但对于同样具有普世性的中医学却失去客观心态,对中医的优势却表现为选择性失明。他的言论阻碍了中医继耶稣会士之后以正面形象或客观形态再次传至欧洲,其还试图使国人失去对中医的文化自信。其在中国开办医科学校,传播西医知识,开展医疗慈善等活动,主要目的是为了解构中医,传播西医及其背后的基督教文化,意欲主导中国科学和文化发展的进程。Benjamin Hobson,a medical missionary who came to China in the 19 th century,was a professional pusher for the stigmatization and weakening of traditional Chinese medicine and the first person as a doctor publicly criticized the Traditional Chinese Medicine. His remarks demonstrated the universality and authority of western medicine,but for the same universality of traditional Chinese medicine,he departed from his objective stand and chose selective blindness. The remarks of Benjamin Hobson hindered the opportunity for traditional Chinese Medicine to spread to Europe again after the Jesuits and made the Chinese lose the confidence in traditional Chinese medicine. He set up medical schools in China, disseminated the knowledge of Western medicine and developed medical charity. The main purpose of these activities was to deconstruct traditional Chinese Medicine and disseminate sestern medicine and Christian culture,so as to lead the scientific and cultural development in China.
