《幻影书》的面具艺术与主体性构建

摘　　要：保罗·奥斯特常常由于其作品中的偶然性、不确定性和元叙述等特点而被认定为"后现代主义"作家,2002年出版的《幻影书》出版后即被认为是他最具戏剧性、情节最为错综复杂的一部,书中各种不可思议的偶然巧合和机遇令人叹为观止。然而,奥斯特在其作品中对确定性的追寻和对主体性的构建都相当确切,故事感极强。在《幻影书》中,作家延续了他自我追寻及主体性构建的主题,人物通过面具表现自我,又通过面具逃避自我,最终与面具合二为一。虽然主体最终只能捕捉到自我的幻影,但这些幻影以奇异的方式叠加在一起,完成了主体性的构建。Paul Auster has frequently been regarded as "postmodern" because of the emphasis over chance,uncertainty and meta-narratives in his works.The Book of Illusions,published in 2002,has been considered the most dramatic and intricate,with all kinds of coincidences and incredible chances.However,if we read carefully enough,we may find that Auster’s concern over certainty and his attempts to construct subjectivity are at least equally clear.The Book of Illusions is another book focused on the pursuit of self and the construction of subjectivity through the usage of masks.Masks help to represent the self,they also help to hide the self.Finally,masks become one with the self.Although these selves are but illusions,in a unique manner,they constitute what we consider as subjectivity.
