摘　　要："Araby"is one of the short stories in James Joyce’s well-known Dubliners.The story portrays the epiphany of an adolescent boy who has a crush on an elder sister but later realizes the vanity of his love after his frustrated journey to the bazaar"Araby".To illustrate how this epiphany is achieved,Joyce employs the imagery of light and darkness to symbolize respectively the illusory nature of the boy’s imagination and the bleakness and paralysis of the reality.
