OBJECTIVE To study whether the "paperless check system" can improve the work efficiency of nurses in the ward to check oral drugs.METHODS Five departments with more than 100 packs of long-term medical orders of oral subcontracted drugs were selected, and their long-term medical orders were manually checked by nurses for 10 consecutive working days, and then they were trained in the operation of the "paperless check system" to study the difference in the time of single-pack check between the manual check and paperless check systems.RESULTS Compared with manual verification, the use of paperless check system in each ward can significantly shorten check time of the oral drugs(P<0.05, P<0.01). After the process optimization, the average check time of the ward was reduced by about 50%.CONCLUSION The paperless verification system is a practical problem encountered by pharmacists in the verification of subcontracted oral drugs in clinical work. The new procedure developed by entrusting network engineers can significantly improve the work efficiency of nurses in the verification of oral drugs and reduce the verification time.
