Objective To understand the anxiety status among medical staffs in different posts of hospitals during the period of COVID-19 epidemic. Methods A total of 217 medical staffs including doctors, nurses and other staffs in some hospitals of Guangdong province and Hubei province were surveyed online by convenience sampling and snowball sampling from February 22 to 28,2020.Chi-square test was used to compare the rate of medical staffs in different positions, and t test as well as variance analysis were used to compare the measurement data. Results Among the 217 medical staffs,131 were doctors(60.37%),66 were nurses(30.41%)and 20 were others(9.22%).The total rough scores of self-rating anxiety scale(SAS)for doctors and nurses was(32.51±7.98)and(33.47±7.16),respectively.Both of them were higher than the national norm(P<0.05).The total rough SAS score of others was(31.90±5.17),and there was no significant difference between the others group and the general population. The prevalence of anxiety among doctors was 14.50%,with the SAS standard score being(40.64±9.98).The prevalence of anxiety among nurses was 16.67%,with the SAS score being(41.84±8.96).The prevalence of anxiety among others was 5.00%,with the SAS score being(39.88±6.46).There was no significant difference among the 3 groups(all P values were>0.05).Doctors and nurses believed that the risk of COVID-19 infection was positively correlated with SAS standard score(Doctor r=0.358,P<0.01;Nurse r=0.272,P<0.05).Conclusion The levels of anxiety of doctors and nurses are higher than that of the general population, and are associated with the belief that they are at risk of being infected with COVID-19.
