摘　　要：詹姆斯·鲍德温关注美国种族问题和现代人的精神困境,以其雄辩、激情的笔调和深邃的思想成为20世纪中期最重要的美国非裔作家和黑人民权运动代言人。鲍德温小说不仅主题丰富、思想深邃、语言优美,而且在叙事手法上体现了多样性和独特性。其小说《告诉我火车已经开了多久》采用环形叙事和意识流,使文本在不同时间和空间自由流动,聚焦人物内心和主观感受,体现了层次感和立体感,有利于故事情节的发展、人物形象的塑造、主题思想的表达,发挥了重要的文学功能和美学价值。James Baldwin,with his literary eloquence,passion and depth,became one of the most important African American writer and spokesman of the black civil rights movement in the mid-20 th century.Baldwin’s novels not only have rich themes,profound thoughts,and beautiful language,but also embody diversity and uniqueness in narrative techniques.The circular narrative and stream-of-consciousness in Tell Me How Long the Train’s Been Gone,enable the narration to flow from different time and spaces harmoniously and effectively,and focus on the inner world and subjective feelings of the characters,being conducive to the development of the stories,the shaping of the characters and the expression of the themes,thus exerting an important literary function and aesthetic value.
