摘 要:两次世界大战之间的年代见证了“乡村英国”神话的复兴,这种带有浓厚怀旧色彩的意识形态将乡村建构成一个象征着英国性的伊甸园空间。伍尔夫《幕间》再现了这种神话,但目的是为了揭开其神秘的面纱、拷问其理想化的本质。小说将田园牧歌历史化,表明永恒的、超历史的“乡村英国”本质上是一种虚构和幻想,在现实中从不存在,同时还揭露了隐藏在这种浪漫幻想背后的阶级和性别不公。《幕间》对乡村神话的祛魅有力地批评了创造这种怀旧神话的社会面对阶级和性别压迫的集体失忆。The interwar years witnessed a strong revival of the myth of rural England,a nostalgically tinged ideology that constructs the countryside as an Edenic space symbolic of Englishness.In her last novel Between the Acts,Virginia Woolf evokes this myth in order to debunk it and to interrogate its idealized nature.By historicizing rural idyll,the novel shows that the timeless,transhistorical rural England is essentially a kind of fiction and fantasy which has never existed in reality.Moreover,it exposes the class and gender oppression hidden behind this romanticized fantasy.In demythifying the countryside,the novel denounces the society that has created this nostalgic myth for its collective amnesia about class and masculinist violence.
