摘　　要：朱古达战争是罗马与其北非盟国努米底亚国王朱古达之间围绕该国王位之争而爆发的一场局部战争,战争规模不大,但对罗马共和国的历史却产生了深远影响。事实上,朱古达战争并不是罗马同努米底亚之间矛盾不可调和的产物。元老院之所以迟迟不肯宣战,是因为它根本没有发动战争的愿望,萨卢斯特关于元老贵族受贿的指控则明显有夸大之嫌。朱古达战争的爆发是各种综合因素导致的结果,是历史的合力催生了这场让罗马付出巨大代价的战争。The Jugurthine War was a local war for the throne between Rome Republic and the King Jugurtha of Numidia, which is Rome Republic’s ally in north Africa. The war was small, but it had a profound effect on the history of Roman Republic. In fact, the Jugurthine War was not the irreconcilable product of the conflict between Rome Republic and Numidia. The Senate was slow to declare the war because it had no desire to do so. The accusation of Gaius Sallust Crispus that the Senate Lords had taken bribes was obviously exaggerated. The outbreak of the Jugurthine War that was the result of a combination of historical forces caused Rome Republic to pay a heavy price for it.
