摘 要:以汉娜·阿伦特的"恶的平庸性"概念为理论工具对石黑一雄《浮世画家》进行分析发现,主人公小野增二在二战中的所作所为以及他对待过去的态度绝非个人现象,而是更多地反映了整个日本民族无力进行政治思考和漠视政治责任的事实。正是思考的无能和责任的荒疏使日本深陷帝国主义和法西斯的深渊,并且至今无法直面和反思历史。小说的现实所指和政治内涵因此得到了揭示。An analysis of Kazuo Ishiguro’s An Artist of the Floating World, adopting Hannah Arendt’s concept of "banality of evil" as the theoretical instrument, discovers that, the hero Masuji Ono’s misdeeds in WWII and his attitude towards the past are by no means a personal phenomenon, but rather mirror the fact that, the whole Japanese nation has been unable to think politically and has long neglected their political responsibility. It is this very impotence of thinking and neglect of responsibility that has dragged Japan into the abyss of imperialism and fascism and made them still unable to face and reflect on the history. The realistic reference and political implication of the novel are thus revealed.
