Objective The aim of this study was to explore the relationship among COVID-19 related stress, academic worry, and loneliness on depression, anxiety and insomnia of college entrance examination candidates during the COVID-19 epidemic. Methods 661 candidates for college entrance examination were surveyed with questionnaires. Results COVID-19-related stress correlated significantly with depression, anxiety and insomnia.Structural equation modeling showed that COVID-19-related stress could indirectly influence depression and anxiety through the mediating effect of academic worry. It could also indirectly influence depression, anxiety and insomnia through the chain mediating effect of academic worry and loneliness. Conclusion COVID-19-related stress can exert effect on depression, anxiety and insomnia through the mediational chains of academic worry and loneliness.
