Brief Report on the 2019 Excavation of Palatial City Building Foundations at the Shangjing Site of the Liao Dynasty in Bairin Left Banner,Inner Mongolia

摘　　要：辽上京是辽代营建最早、最为重要的都城。辽上京遗址位于内蒙古自治区巴林左旗林东镇东南(图一)。城址平面略呈“日”字形,由北部的皇城和南部的汉城两部分组成。自2011年起,中国社会科学院考古研究所内蒙古第二工作队和内蒙古自治区文物考古研究所联合组成辽上京考古队,开始对辽上京遗址进行有计划的、系统的考古工作。经过9年的考古勘探和发掘,在辽上京皇城遗址的布局和沿革等方面均取得了突破性收获。The archaeological team conducted excavations and yielded substantial results at the No.1 building foundation(2019JZ1)in the palatial city of the Shangjing site of the Liao Dynasty in 2019.The building foundation is located in the central-northern part of the palatial city.This Liao Dynasty building with a rectangular plan is positioned on the west side,facing east.The column grid measures nine bays across by three bays in depth,surrounded by stairs.The interior surface of the walls is plastered with lime,while the exterior is painted in red.It is the largest building site that has ever been found inside the palatial city.The Jin Dynasty building is positioned on the north side,facing south with a rectangular plan,measuring three bays across by three bays in depth.The center of the south wall is preceded by a pentagonal ramp.The overlapping of buildings from the Liao and Jin dynasties demonstrates that the Shangjing site underwent great changes in plan and appearance when it became a local city during the Jin Dynasty after being a palatial city during the Liao Dynasty.The No.1 building site provides critical data for study of the history and archaeology of the Liao and Jin dynasties,as well as architectural technology.
