摘　　要：首先缕析美国进步主义思想与中国近代建筑史研究的关联,在此阐释框架下,根据一手资料考证北京协和医学校建筑风格的选择及两个建设时期前后建筑方针变化的原因,比较前后3位建筑师在该校建设中的历史贡献及其各自事业轨迹的差别,补述建筑师之外其他相关人物的历史贡献,着重考察建筑形式背后决策的复杂思想动机与设计手法的源从和创造,还原富有张力的历史过程。This paper explicates the relations between Progressivism and the study of modern Chinese architectural history.Using an analytical framework of Progressivism and building on first hand materials,it investigates the selection of architectural styles adopted in the PUMC and the logics of the stylistic evolution in two construction phases,recounting the contributions of three architects in designing and building the PUMC and compares their respective careers before and after the PUMC project.Under the progressive vision,it also examines pivotal figures in imaging the project other than architects,with a focus on the driving forces in the larger intellectual background,to restore the intensive architectural history of the PUMC.
