摘　　要：薛福成提倡历史应因势而变,借鉴西方;提倡史学经世,撰写的《出使英法义比四国日记》《出使日记续刻》《庸庵笔记》等具有很高的史料价值;主张评价人物应将其放在特定的历史背景下,特别是要注重道德品评。Xue Fucheng advocated that history should change according to the situation and draw lessons from the West.He advocated that historiography must be beneficial to the national affairs.The books he wrote such as Diary of a Diplomatic Mission to Britain,France,Italy and Belgium,A Continuation of the Diary of his Diplomatic Mission,and Notes of Yong’an are of great historical value.The evaluation of characters should be placed in a specific historical background,especially the moral evaluation.
