摘　　要：The Scarlet Letter,written by American romantic writer Nathaniel Hawthorne,is famous for its profound theme and writing techniques of symbolism and metaphor.Scholars studied this work from different perspectives like symbolism,feminism and gothic effect.By analyzing the different characters of this novel,this paper aims at revealing the ugly side of human nature from the perspective of the Freudian Psychoanalytic Interpretation.
