摘  要:戏剧家乔治·索恩和作曲家亨利·毕晓普在1826年共同创作了《阿拉丁:童话歌剧》,此剧备受期待,但在特鲁里街皇家剧院上演后遭遇票房上的滑铁卢。当时的评论家认为演出失败的主要原因有两个:第一、剧本质量不佳;第二、特鲁里街皇家剧院和科文特花园剧院之间的激烈竞争导致该剧在没有充分准备的情况下仓促上演。但深入探究,就会发现导致演出失败的更为重要的原因:索恩和毕晓普对此剧剧种的定位不一致。这导致剧本内容的风格与音乐的风格之间的不协调,从而影响此剧的演出效果。George Soane and Henry Bishop created their musical play entitled Aladdin:A Fairy Opera in 1826.However,this highly anticipated play was a total failure when it was staged at Drury Lane Theatre.Critics at the time thought that there were two main reasons for the failure.First,the libretto was of poor quality.Second,the play was hastily staged because of fierce competition between Drury Lane Theatre and Covent Garden Theatre.But if we explore further,it will be found that there exists for the failure of the performance one more important cause which is the different understanding of the genre of Aladdin:A Fairy Opera by George Soane and Henry Bishop.This different understanding leads to the disharmony between the content of the script and the musical style,which affects the performance of the play.
