摘 要:隋唐五代时期,佛教立足于都市,造就佛寺遍布、僧尼众多、僧才凝聚、经典丰硕、弘传活跃、宗派林立之盛况。都市佛教勃兴与鼎盛,得益于都市特殊的政治、经济、文化地位,都市佛教具有与王权贵族发生关联的多种机遇,易于获取帝王关注与支持。帝王支持都市佛教初衷,不乏来自单纯精神慰藉之追求,但出于政治斗争现实需要,以皇权政治管控宗教发展,使都市佛教与其政治谋划相适应则为主要因由。正是王权于都市佛教的借用与都市佛教对帝王权势的迁就,促使都市佛教于隋唐五代时期达到发展史上的顶峰。During the periods of the Sui,Tang and Five Dynasties,urban areas were the economic,political and cultural centers.The robust development of Buddhism saw the emergence of a large number of Buddhist temples,monks and nuns,and different sects.Meanwhile,illustrious monks and Buddhist classics also sprang up.The prosperity of urban Buddhism benefited from the special political,economic and cultural status of the city.Urban Buddhism had many opportunities of getting insinuated into the favor of royal aristocracy,which gained itself access to imperial attention and support.The emperor’s original intention of supporting urban Buddhism was purportedly to seek spiritual comfort.For the practical needs of political struggle,the main reason for controlling religious development with imperial power was to make urban Buddhism adapt to imperial political planning.It was the active borrowing of royal power from urban Buddhism and the accommodation of urban Buddhism to imperial power that made urban Buddhism reach its peak in the history of Sui,Tang and Five Dynasties.
