As it is known, the number of people infected with HIV globally is 37.9 million, and the infection rate in China is still rising in recent years, particularly the proportion of sexually transmitted HIV infection. The vagina microecological diversity and the co-infection rate of sexually transmitted diseases among HIV-infected women are higher than those of HIV negative women and their vaginal microecological changes also increase the risk of HIV infection. Many studies have showed that people with bacterial vaginosis(BV)have increased risk of HIV infection. In addition, the detection rates of human papillomavirus, trichomonas, chlamydia, treponema pallidum and other sexually transmitted diseases in the vagina of HIV-infected patients have increased. So,effective treatment of BV and restoration of vaginal microecology can significantly reduce the incidence of sexually transmitted diseases, including HIV infection. This paper summarizes a number of studies on the relationship between HIV infection and vaginal microecology at home and abroad, with the hope to clarify the important role of maintaining vaginal microecology balance in reducing HIV infection.
