A Study of Tang Dynasty Scholar LIU Zong-yuan’s Experience and Achievements in Chinese Medicine

摘　　要：在概览《柳宗元集》等文献的基础上,经分析发现,柳宗元是一个精通医药,并且在医学上有着诸多实践的文士。他为保身长全、调适身心而研习医药;在采药、种药、制药、用药的过程中,其深识药理;在探究医理中,其审证论治,能知荣卫脉理,明虚实、察阴阳、识气血;在身心交瘁之期,其推己及人,将其患病的治疗经验以病案形式详记以传,即现今的《柳柳州救死三方》,并远传海外;在任柳州刺史时,其崇医抑巫,引导百姓以医药治疗疾病,在一定程度上促进了当地医疗卫生事业的发展。Based on an overview of Works of LIU Zong-yuan and related documents,this article analyses and finds that LIU Zong-yuan was a scholar proficient in medicine and that he had many practices in medicine.LIU Zong-yuan studied medicine in order to preserve his body as well as adjusting his body and mind.With the experience of collecting,planting,processing and using herbs himself,LIU Zong-yuan had a deep understanding of pharmacology.In the aspect of medical science,LIU Zong-yuan was able to master principles of the Rong and Wei,differentiate deficiency syndromes and excessive syndromes,observe Yin and Yang,and know the Qi and Blood.Even suffered from serious diseases and mental stress,he struggled to record his treatment experiences which is now known as LIU Zong-yuan’s Three Treatments to Save the Death and spread abroad.As the prefectural governor of Liuzhou,he popularized medical knowledge to local people,suppressed sorcery and guided the people to treat diseases with drugs.His measures promoted the development of local medical and health undertakings.
