摘　　要：尽管《隋书》为唐初史官魏徵等人撰修,但《附国传》的史料却并非出自魏徵等人之手,而是出自隋裴矩《西域图记》,因之史官及后世学者多没意识到附国即吐蕃;《北史·附国传》与《新唐书·附国传》均是对《隋书·附国传》的继承或删节;附国之名并非真正的国名,而仅是一种俗称。“吐蕃”一词的发音应该是吐蕃人在原来称号的基础上,附会或因赐姓而自称“秃发”或“拓跋”而来;隋唐之际,客观上给吐蕃的兼并战提供了绝佳机会,期间吐蕃因忙于内部的兼并战争或赞普易代而汉籍无闻。但贞观八年前后的唐蕃互动,正如同大业四年、五年的隋与附国的互动一样,为该时期唐朝为攻灭吐谷浑而与吐蕃的呼应结盟。Although"Suishu",a Chinese history book of the Sui Dynasty,was written and compiled by Wei Zheng and some other historians in the early Tang Dynasty,"the history of Fu Kingdom"in"Suishu"was not written by them but Pei Ju in the Sui Dynasty instead,it was excerpted directly from his"The Chorography of Western Re⁃gions".Because the historians and scholars in the later time did not discover that Fu Kingdom was referred to the Tubo(Tibet).Both"the history of Fu Kingdom"in"Beishi",a history book of the Northern Wei Dynasty and in"Xin Tangshi",a history book of the Tang Dynasty are copies from or abridged of that of"Suishu".The Fu King⁃dom is not the real name of the country,but only a common name.The pronunciation of the word"Tubo"should be created by the Tibetan people on the basis of its original name.They might name themselves"Tufa"or"To⁃ba"by making a strained interpretation of a name or a given surname.The Tubo found the turn of the Sui to Tang Dynasty an excellent opportunity for internal unification,having little interaction with the Han people.As the alli⁃ance of the Sui and Tubo in 608-609,the alliance of the Tang and Tubo in 634 contributed to the Tang's annihi⁃lation of Va Zha,an ethnic minority group lived in present-day northern Qinghai and Southeast Xinjiang during the Sui and Tang Dynasties.
