论赛珍珠的中西文化观——以《东风·西风》为例

摘　　要：赛珍珠对中西文化的比较和思考反映在她的作品中。其第一部小说《东风·西风》,借婚姻问题探讨了中西文化差异,向读者展示了文化差异背后的原因,并借小说中人物对中西文化差异的态度,传达了如何消弭差异,达成理解的途径。文章以《东风·西风》为研究文本,首先梳理小说中东西方文化差异的方面,再从人物分析出发,探究不同人物或接受或否定西方文化的态度和人物命运之间的关系,进而勾勒出作家本人的文化观,即尊重异质文化,提倡交流和理解。Pear Buck has been influenced by both eastern and western cultures. Her reflection on the differences between cultures must be found in her novels. Her first novel "East Wind, West Wind" discussed culture difference by marriage, analyzed the reason that causes those differences, showed us various attitudes from characters in the novel to culture difference, and discussed the way to eliminate differences and understand each other. This study first made clear the culture difference between the East and the West in this novel, then analyzed the link between characters’ attitudes to culture difference and their fates. At last, the paper concluded Pear Buck’s view on eastern and western cultures: we should respect alien cultures by communication and understanding.
