摘　　要：竹芋科属单子叶植物。多年生草本,根茎多少肉质,叶通常大,排成二列,叶柄顶端增厚为叶枕,基部具鞘;花两性,左右对称,通常对生于苞片中,排成穗状、头状或疏散的圆锥花序,萼片3,花瓣合生成长或短的管,裂片3,最外一枚通常大;发育雄蕊1,花药1室,退化雄蕊2-4枚;子房下位1-3室,每室有胚珠1粒,果为蒴果或浆果。产热带地区,主产美洲及西非,多生于潮湿沼泽森林中.全球27属350种;我国连同栽培的有4属10种。产南部广东、云南、台湾等省。The Marantaceae belong to the monocotyledons.Herbaceous perennials of various habitats.The leaf is usually large,two ranked,has sheathing.One side of the leaf is larger than the other and is covered by it when the leaf is rolled up in the bud.Flowers are usually upon the leafy shoots,in pairs in the axils of the bracts.The flower is asymmetric,but in each pair the one is complementary to the other.The flower’s pentacyclic 3-merous perianth 3+3 clearly distinguish in most cases into calyx and corolla.The androeceum is unified to the corolla.There is one fertile stamen,often petaloid and round it are various petaloid structures.The flower often has an explosive mechanism.The pollen is shed upon the style.The embryo curves in the perisperm.The seed is often arillate.The plant is widely distributed in the tropical regions,especially in America and West Africa.The family contains 27 genera and 350 species.There are about 4 genera(two genera cultivatea)and 10 species in China.
