摘　　要：詹姆斯·马林是美国西部史学的早期代表性人物,他的史学研究成果丰硕、特点鲜明,其中对生态学的关注及整体史的研究最值得重视。具体而言,他率先将生态学的视角引入西部史学研究之中,不仅从新的角度解释了大平原的历史,修正了传统西部史学理论,而且对西部史成为环境史的学科前哨产生了重大影响。同时,他强调整体史研究,这有力地推动了历史研究方法的革新,对促进环境史的发展居功甚伟。James Malin was a representative figure of American history of west in early stage,his historical research is fruitful and distinctive,Among them,the most remarkable are focusing on the ecology and the studying the overall history.Specifically,he pioneered the introduction of the ecological perspective to the study of western history,not only explains the history of the Great Plains from a new perspective,revised the traditional western historiography,but also made a great influence on the western history become a discipline outpost of environmental history.At the same time,he emphasized the study of the overall history,this strongly promoted the methodological innovation of historical research,and contributed to the development of the environmental history greatly.
