摘　　要：《卡斯特桥市长》是英国作家托尔斯·哈代的著名代表作之一,该作品是一部悲剧作品,对于英国乃至全球文坛的发展都起着显著作用,是英国文学界宝贵的财富之一。《卡斯特桥市长》以十九世纪英国工业革命农村社会经济变化为背景,讲述了亨查德从打草工当上卡斯特桥市长,最后悲惨死去的故事。小说中的男主人公亨查德的曲折命运,生动形象地展现出当时极为盛行的男权主义以及悲情主义,生动刻画了人和命运的搏斗。小说中亨查德助理法夫瑞身上也充分体现了人与命运搏斗的痕迹。本文以《卡斯特桥市长》中的男主人公亨查德与助理法夫瑞的故事经历为内容,结合作品的创作背景、时代特征、人物性格、处事原则等多方面的影响因素来剖析两位角色与命运进行斗争的经历,以增加对该小说更深层次的理解。The mayor of Casterbridge is one of the famous representative works of the British writer TOLES Hardy.It is a tragic work,which plays a significant role in the development of British and even the global literary world,and is one of the precious treasures of British literature.The mayor of Casterbridge is based on the social and economic changes in the rural areas of British Industrial Revolution in the 19th century.It tells the story of Henchard's tragic death when he became mayor of Casterbridge from a lawnmower.The tortuous fate of Henchard,the hero in the novel,vividly shows the prevailing male chauvinism and pathologism at that time,and vividly depicts the struggle between man and fate.In the novel,Henchard's assistant favry also fully reflects the traces of struggle between man and fate.Based on the story of Henchard and his assistant favry in the mayor of Casterbridge,this paper analyzes how the two characters fight against fate by combining with the creative background,characteristics of the times,character character and principle of handling affairs,so as to enhance the deeper understanding of the novel.
