摘　　要：著名德国汉学家鲁道夫·瓦格纳(Rudolf G.Wagner)将其近代城市文化生态系统命名为"小生境"。"小生境"概念是适用于特定历史时期的城市文化研究模型,也可以解释为一种传统与现代在文化上的多元复杂关系。借用此模型,瓦格纳对晚清上海的整体文化生态环境进行了阐释,以此探析其兼具传统性和现代性的文化特征。瓦格纳对文化流动的描述是比较多元和辩证的。他认为,西方现代思想要融入中国政治文化,只有在"相对中国化"的条件下才有可能实现,但同时也存在片面强调近代西方文化优势的问题。Rudolf G.Wagner names his modern urban cultural ecosystem"niche"which is an urban cultural research model applicable to a specific historical period,and which can also be interpreted as a culturally diverse and complex relationship between tradition and modernity.Wagner applies this model to the analysis of the overall cultural and ecological environment of Shanghai in the late Qing Dynasty,in order to analyze the cultural characteristics of traditional and modernity of Shanghaiin that time.Wagner’s description of cultural flows is quite diverse and dialectical.He believes that the integration of Western modern thought into China’s political culture can only succeed under the condition of"relatively Chinese",but at the same time there is a problem of one-sided emphasis on the advantages of modern Western culture.With this unique study of Shanghai culture,Professor Wagner was hired as a distinguished professor of Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences in August 1996.
