高等学校英语应用能力考试改革成效——考试利益相关者视角  

Effectiveness of PRETCO reform:From test stake-holders perspective

摘　　要：为了适应社会对职业人才英语技能需求的变化,高等学校英语应用能力考试(PRETCO)在2014—2016年进行了历时三年的改革。为了了解改革后的考试后效,考试委员会对2037名考试相关人员进行了问卷调研。本文依据调研结果以及对22名考试利益相关者在线半结构访谈,从考试利益相关者的视角探讨改革后的PRETCO能否达到检测考生英语应用能力的效果,题型调整、题量、所占分值是否合理,以及考试对教学有何反拨作用。结果显示1)PRETCO考试的改革是及时、可行的,更突出了对考生英语应用技能的测试,提高了考试的构念效度;2)各个题项的调整合理,更适应当前人才市场对职业人才英语能力的需求;3)考试既有利于教学培养学生英语应用能力,也有助于高职高专学生明确英语学习的方向和提高学习积极性。研究结果对未来中国职业英语能力测试发展具有一定的启示作用。To keep pace with current changes of requirements for professional personnel,the Practical English Test for Colleges(PRETCO)underwent a three-year reform from 2014 to 2016.To examine the consequences of the reform,the Committee of PRETCO initiates a questionaire survey among 2037 related subjects.Based on the results and the follow-up semi-structured online interviews of 22 subjects in view of whether the test truly assesses the examinees'practical English proficiency,whether the test items are adequately and rationally adjusted,and whether the test has positive washback effects on teaching.The main findings show:1)the reform of the test,focusing on the testing of practical English skills,is timely and feasible,thus the validity of the test has been greatly enhanced;2)the adjustments of the test items are reasonable and conform to the current requirements of the job market for professional/vocational personnel;3)the revised test has a positive effect on practical English teaching and is favorable to students'English learning as well.The study has implications for the future development of PRETCO and other occupational English tests.
