SOS response is a low fidelity DNA repair method commonly found in bacteria. When bacterial DNA is damaged, a large number of single strands of DNA accumulate and SOS response initiates and induces longdistance gene expression to participate in DNA repair. This repair process lacks the correction function of DNA replication, and thus the SOS response can greatly increase the frequency of gene mutation in bacteria so that bacteria can adapt to adverse environment faster. On the other hand, the qnr gene family has become a hotspot of plasmidmediated quinolone resistance(PMQR) research with the increasingly serious situation of bacterial resistance. It has been reported that the bacterial SOS response can cause significant difference in qnr resistance level of the strain, and the complete SOS response can increase the MIC of the strain by several folds. It may be suspected that SOS response regulates qnr gene expression, but there is no report on the mechanism of SOS response regulating qnr resistance in bacteria. Based on this, the relationship between SOS response mechanism and qnr resistance mechanism was tentatively reviewed.
