摘　　要：刘家和先生是著名的史学家,他通古今,贯中西,思想穿透力强。他的学术研究生涯经历了从希腊史到印度史再到中国史的转变,在各领域都取得了重要成就,解决了传统经学研究的难题,开辟了古史研究的新路。他融中国传统的小学、目录学和考证等根柢之学与西方的哲学逻辑学于一体,以自觉的理论统领,中西互用互鉴,在比较中而成融会贯通之学。宽阔的心胸、崇高的理想、坚韧的毅力、科学的方法和高超的效率使他成为史学工作者的典范。As a deep and penetrating historian,Professor Liu Jiahe is eminent for his profound knowledge and research in ancient and modern histories,as well as the West and China.Starting from the ancient Greek,his academic research shifted to ancient India before going back to China.He has been making great contributions to these fields,breaking a new trail to study the ancient Chinese history,and has solved some controversial problems in the Confucian classic studies or jingxue.Under the guidance of a philosophical insight,and combining the traditional Chinese philology,bibliography and textual criticism with the logic tradition in the Western philosophy,he contributed greatly to the learning of ronghui guantong(harmonizing different theories and methods into an academic system or hierarchy)which makes it possible for him to interpret interactively the histories of the West and China in comparison.Open-mindedness,noble academic aspiration,perseverance,reflexivity for improvement and high-efficiency make him a perfect model for the modern Chinese historical profession.
