摘　　要：辽代都统作为北面军官,一方面,对内履行维稳治乱职能,如征伐室韦、乌古、敌烈、党项、五国部、阻卜、女真等部族、平定渤海遗民大延琳之叛乱,巩固辽朝统治基础;另一方面,对外履行征伐职能,如交锋后唐、救援北汉、南征北宋、东讨高丽、西伐夏国,以赢得有利周边环境。作为北面军官、北面行军官、北面边防官系统的都统,其官称不仅沿袭至辽朝政权衰亡,而且在一定程度上被后继王朝金朝所承袭。The Military Governor in Liao Dynasty,on the one hand,it performed the functions of maintaining stability and resolving chaos;on the other hand,it performed the functions of conquest and defense.The official title was not only inherited until the decline of the Liao Dynasty,but also inherited by the subsequent Jin Dynasty to a certain extent.
